Even attending a private school during all of her schooling. She was brought up to be a socialite just like her mother, but was quickly disenchanted with their world- it felt like it was all white rooms, fake smiles and there was no substance to anything. It felt empty. She took solace in her father. Who showed her other facets of life, including camping. He'd only taken her a few times due to his busy life; but she loved every minute of it. These trips were the only times she was able to be herself. Including dressing how she wanted vs how her mother preferred. Her father was the one who kept her personality grounded despite being wealthy and somewhat spoiled. Her mother preferred she stick with more feminine styles, but Beck had never really found them comfortable; and prefers to only dress up when the situation calls for it.A year prior to finding a pamphlet for Camp Campbell stuck to a community board; Beck lost her father to a car accident. She now fears driving as a whole, and spent a year in a very dark place. When she found the pamphlet, she convinced her mother that a camp would be good for her. While her mother was still wary of the idea of a dirty old camp; she allowed her to go. Even if she did pressure her daughter to choose Flower Scouts instead.Despite Camp Campbell's glaring issues; Beck can safely say that she's never felt more at home in a place.
